Great piece. Totally agree about thinking long term. It feels like something has to give in the short term. I continue to think Trump's greatest gift has been waking people up to the corruption and lies of our government and media, which is a necessary first step. I also believe him when he says "we caught 'em" and "we have all the evidence". He could have reversed 2020, but I believe he was thinking about the bigger picture.

Noem, in addition to stated facts, has baggage that won't disappear. I truly admire Ben Carson and could envision him as Prez. Abbott makes me shudder. But I was dialed into politics as a young girl through my dad; Texas politics of the 50s. We moved to McLean VA and dad worked on JFK campaign. As good Texas Democrats we loathed LBJ. I asked dad why Jack picked him to run as VP and got my first lesson about electoral college. The points in this article are undeniable, and feelings don't count. But I cannot envision Abbott as Prez. Ever.

He’s running for governor and is a shoe in for the nomination and will most certainly win the general. He won’t be available.
