Attempting to read “tea leaves” on Wednesday, I erroneously felt the New York kangaroo court was falling apart and that it was a strong possibility President Trump was going to be acquitted of the ridiculous, politicized charges against him.  Not only did my gut turn out wrong, that disgrace of a jury assembled in Juan Merchan’s court found him guilty on all 34 counts.

All of us (at least most of you reading this article, and a wide majority of our countrymen) recognize the sad episode this represents here in the late Republic.  We realize the trial was a political trial meant to sway public opinion and spin narratives in an election year.  In that sense, it came with a heightened likelihood of an unjust verdict from its mere existence, but it still doesn’t stop me from feeling enraged at the utter insanity of our two-tiered justice system, and the fact that the ruling class is immune from such prosecution.  That rage can be further directed to dirtbags on the left or Uniparty right celebrating this farce and purporting to be Americans, people who live under a Constitution that guarantees a fair trial as a basic right.  Indeed, this verdict was crafted to piss you off and to make you say, write, and do things that will further the narrative that modern day political dissidents in the Trump faction are dangerous insurrectionists, and that may lead you to an indefinite confinement in violation of your rights.

In a sense, 2024 has been surreal.  I almost feel like there isn’t an election right around the corner and beginning in less than four months if we include mail ballot season.  It has been one sideshow, one spectacle, after another, with very little talk about campaigning.  That gives me a bit of trepidation, honestly, because 24 hours at a time are expiring and billowing like waves into the next set of 24 – and before we know it, time will be up.  Election integrity lives on or dies (for the time being) based on what kangaroo court results are certified in late November.  Some people are so jaded about elections that simply analyzing polling or registration data causes some to lash out in resentment.  I get it – things aren’t operating like they should be; however, this verdict is only beginning to sink in, and these are the:

Three Immediate Electoral Impacts of the Merchan Court Verdict

1)        A Real-Life Surge for Trump

The usual suspects are cheering, but not in the numbers they once would have comprised.  Social media was abuzz yesterday with example after example of longtime Democrats discussing voting and donating for Trump.  I woke up to a message from a college friend asking on behalf of a former Major League All-Star how to donate and subsequently arrange a round of golf with President Trump.  Predictive markets are also nudging in favor of President Trump, showing that this verdict is the result of seven years of Russia, Russia, Russia and “get Trump” that has resulted in this whimper of a disgrace passed down in the court of a foreign-born judge.
