Thank you Seth for those very apt pointers on how to remain positive yet reality based. I sure needed to hear that. The mind noise out there is crazy and chaotic. Your voice of sanity and being grounded was and is much needed. I'm glad I'm subscribed to your Substack. I'll be buying your book shortly because as I've indicated before and you've indicated in several posts...in my state of California we need an election system reset due to fraud and a complete gutting to win any and all elections moving forward for the conservatives at the local, statewide and congressional levels. Keep up the good work and thanks for all you do.
The best part of being really old (St. Patrick's Day was my 81st bday) is that you have time to think about all the history you still don't know. I still have no real understanding of how Germany and Poland viewed their satisfactory agreement to slice off pieces of Czechoslovakia in 1938 with Britain's blessing. I still don't know why Churchill thought the first country the RAF should bomb was not Germany but the Soviet Union (because of their invasion of Finland - Germany's most steadfast Fascist ally. I do know enough to sympathize with the Captain's difficulties in having people understand what the choices are with Iran. Do the religious and military people who own the guns in that country want to kill all the Jews? Has that been their avowed goal since they took power? Will they use a nuclear weapon if they get one? I trust the Captain's answers to these questions more than I trust those of anyone who wants to pretend that our country's choices in this matter are something other than binary.
I bought your book, and am looking forward to reading when it arrives. Yes I too recently waded back onto X, although only to read the comments. I left the website in 2018 because I was sick and tired of being shadow banned, and swore I would never use it again. Never say never. Yes there are many things and issues on the Internet to get one's panties in a serious wad. I try to keep my panties out of my butt crack, but elections are one thing I care about. If we don't have free and fair elections, we don't have a Republic and I want to make sure that is one thing I pass on to my granddaughter. I also care about people in positions of power to be held accountable. The lack of accountability has lead to the insane amount of corruption we are witnessing today. Also I'm starting to hate Thune's guts. I don't understand what kind of game he is playing and I'm not sure I want to. If he's looking for his 15 minutes of fame he's getting it and not in a good way.
I look at Israel as another country not necessarily as Jewish. Like most countries they do things for their own benefit and if they can get other countries to agree to whatever is they are doing, they are no different than any other country. Some things I agree with, some things I don't. I don't look at it as religious.
Keep up the good work! It is definitely appreciated.
Yes, this. I am heavily skeptical of Israel, but if I say that I must be a Hitler apologist. And it seems that everyone on X who is skeptical of Israel thinks Trump has sold out to them, which I certainly don't think at this point.
My doompiller era was from the Steal up until the Comeback, to varying degrees. Even you seemed blackpiller to me back then, as I mentioned several times. I am much more optimistic now.
My use of X has notably declined. I still use it, but mostly it's to reblog some things I agree with. Larry quitting X and going back to Truth has helped with that.
So my only other real problem isn't politics at all, even on X. Instead it's tumblr, which I'm still on because of some fandoms that I am in. This has led to the interesting scenario where people have blocked me, but keep complaining about me anyway. Well, okay, it's kinda political, as they are all leftists.
By the way, I had a Twitter account for years, and was very active especially after 2016. Just before the 2022 election I was banned, apparently for suggesting that mail-in ballots and drop boxes were used for cheating. I got no official explanation. I tried to get my account re-instated several times to no avail. Not going back, it's there loss. I can keep up on some important accounts on Truth Social.
Captain K, love the balance you bring to all of us who are following you. I'm presently in chapter 15 and have enjoyed following your journey. Especially dear on my heart is your sharing of your Dad's coming to faith in Jesus and the impact he had those final years in this life. Also enjoyed the part when you met Rachel. Thanks for your honestly and openness. God speed my friend.
Some deranged lefty on X tried to out me, dox my business and tag my clients, calling me a racist. Giving credit where credit is due, X suspended his account after I reported him. It can indeed be a cesspool.
Seth, I just watched your interview with X22 on Rumble. There is a live chat while the video is airing, and I am a regular there. I told them to get your book on Amazon.
You had a ton of great info in just that short interview with Dave, well worth sharing and watching again. Thanks for doing it.
I am spending a LOT LESS TIME on X than I did 4 months ago. I do NOT Scroll - I go directly to a few people I trust and get some fact-based news. You are sooooo right, Captain K!!
A lot of this is just basic epistemological discipline: recognize your biases, try to correct for them, maintain an open mind, credit basic and reliable information accordingly, etc.
These are the strategies I've been employing for years now. I won't pretend to be some clairvoyant (I'm pretty bad at predicting election outcomes, for one thing) but I think they've given me a good grasp of the fundamentals. More importantly, I remain open to reassessing my priors and changing my conclusions. If more people would become a BIT more ideologically flexible we could usher in a golden age here... or at least make some better policies.
I have no fixed opinions on Iran or our foreign policy (although I sense that we're heading in a dangerous direction) but I know two things: (1) Trump is a democrat in the true sense of the word (he cares about the popular will) and (2) our foreign policy is constrained by our economic indicators, which are almost directly correlated with the global oil price. If the price stays high, Trump will seek to exit this war. I sense he already is trying to do that. The question is whether that will be possible. In war, as you know, the other guy definitely gets a vote.
I pray that this conflict doesn't become our Ukraine. It won't be as bloody or visceral, of course, but it could be disastrous for the administration.

Thank you so much for sharing this John. My mission is to help people reach full potential and it requires being true.
Ah yes, I believe Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life. Good place to be eh?
I just notice you are visiting Dave X 22 so I'll have to watch after dinner. Blessings!
Great advice!

I'll buy your book Seth, and gift a few copies to those close to me.
The message laid out in this essay is more important than ever.
I dumped all social media a few years back except a substack or two. Best thing I ever did.
