Good article. Quick question: Do you think all the negative stuff about the elections people are spewing is having an impact on enthusiasm? Does it feel like the same playbook being played that was played in 2018 and 2022? I am only asking because it seems like it to me. The blue spots in Iowa what is there that it might be leaning blue or are these always blue areas?

Excuse me for jumping in, but I spend a lot of time in that region, so I can tell you those blue counties are, first, the state capital area (the ones in the center of the state), home to surprisingly large numbers of Federal bureaucrats as well as the usual state government types. The other blue outposts are home to university towns, Ames (Iowa State) and Iowa City (U of Iowa). No mystery why they are eternally blue. ;)

I chose a specific county and neighborhood in my town for its politics. I must be that rare bird😂
