How much would it cost to make NC-01 more then a Dem leaner to at least toss-up. This area is so poor and been under Democrats control for a century. Needs a change badly.
I'm very eager to hear your thoughts about NC-1. I was disappointed in our republican candidate selections and don't really believe Buckout is going to pull this off.
The Carolinas are not where Democrats are breaking through. They are where Democrats are being managed into enclaves while Republicans hold the field. North Carolina is sturdy. South Carolina is red except for the Clyburn carveout. The only real congressional question in Keshel’s framework is NC-1, and even that is a leaner, not a moonshot. The bigger story is post-Callais redistricting. If race-based district engineering continues to fall, the Democrats’ old Southern protection racket gets weaker. Republicans should be ruthless about resource allocation: protect what is safe, contest what is winnable, and stop funding consultant fantasies. The map is the message.
I get what you are probably saying about NC house races in general. I just hope money is spent on NC01. The 2024 map was lost by 5000 votes. With 19.5 counties, that is only 256 votes per county. Winnable with money. Dems main topic in 2024 was abortion. The 2026 NC-01 map is a little different but it will still take some money. Don Davis is vulnerable but with money. Butterfield owned this area for years. It never progressed. Most black areas never do. Dems grow govt jobs not private sector. No govt to grow out here. Needs private sector growth. Such a great area.
Rumor is they may have movement now on the restricting - would hope to make this a 17-3-1.
Wonderful work.
What would we do without your talent and experience - you are a blessing to us all.
You exaggerate but I appreciate it!
Thank you for the book recommendation.

I think Reps will win it. I just call it a Dem leaner because it’s their seat for now.
Got it..I misunderstood you saying Reps not to spend money on it because resources should be spent on more winnable races.

It will be spent and it should flip. It’s just not automatic given the incumbent and a Dem year. I single out NC-1 as a target.
