Reading your full story of the VA vote on the redistricting was an eye-opener. Unless you're into it, it's unbelievable how many ways there are to nudge an election in a desired direction. A lot MORE of us should be volunteering to work in elections.

They have shaken the elections picture up tremendously in VA in the past 10 years, for sure.

Until the RPV (VA GOP), learns that it's REALLY HARD to win a race/district when you don't have a candidate running. In the last General Assembly race, there were 17 UNOPPOSED Dems. It's hard to win when you don't even try. I rant about this every election. I don't care if the R has no chance, at least make the D work for it rather than handing it to them for free.

I live in the 7th District, I can't believe two small parts of our district, Fredericksburg and some of Woodbridge are determining the winner. This is probably one of, if not the most Conservative areas of the state but all the NoVAs are moving here and messing it up. 🤬🤬🤬

Virginia political operative here. Spot on, for now. While there are headwinds for the GOP right now, it is way too early to make firm assessments given this cycle's extreme volatility, and the increasing insanity by Democrats of nominating extreme candidates and taking extreme positions. I'll wait until early Fall after things settle out with the Iran situation and party primaries.

I think I need to do some serious mapping in VA2.

Volunteer! Data shows that door knocking is the most successful way to make an impact. I have both run for office (and have both won and lost) and campaigned for others, and it is really an enjoyable experience with a few exceptions. There are always a few sour-pusses. :->
